Support the event

Django on the Med is free to attend, but getting there is not. Travel, accommodation and food all add up, and for some people that cost is the difference between coming and staying home.

Your donation funds opportunity grants, so that people who might not otherwise be able to afford it can join us and help push Django forwards.

What your donation does

The goal is simple: to make it easier for more of the community to take part. Attending a sprint means time away and real costs, and those costs fall unevenly. Opportunity grants help level that out.

Grants go towards the costs of attending, so that being able to come along depends less on what someone can personally afford. We want the room to include experienced contributors and first-timers alike, from as wide a range of backgrounds and places as we can manage.

How the money is handled

Donations are collected and distributed by the Django Software Foundation (DSF). They hold the funds and pass grants on to recipients, so the money is handled transparently and independently of the organisers.

Everything raised goes towards opportunity grants for the event. If we raise more than we can allocate this year, the surplus will go towards future editions of Django on the Med. Anything left beyond that stays with the DSF to support its wider work for the Django community — so no donation goes to waste.

Apply for a grant

If the cost of attending is a barrier for you, please get in touch. We would much rather you asked than assumed the answer is no.

You can email us at info@djangomed.eu or ask in our Slack . Requests are handled discreetly.

Thank you for helping keep Django on the Med open to everyone.
